Queens Park Shooting: Teen Fatally Shot in Brawl

A fatal shooting occurred at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens on Thursday evening, resulting in the death of 15-year-old Jaden Pierre. The incident reportedly began as a physical altercation among several young people on the basketball court before a single shot was fired, striking Pierre in the upper chest. He was transported to Jamaica Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities are currently searching for a suspect, described as wearing a gray sweatsuit, who was captured on video fleeing the area. Detectives have been gathering evidence at the park, which neighbors generally consider safe and even hosts violence prevention programs. Community advocates expressed deep concern over the increasing age of individuals involved with firearms and stressed the need for more after-school programming for young people.

This incident follows another fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy in Nassau County's Eisenhower Park less than 24 hours prior. That earlier event occurred at a barbecue reportedly designed to attract members of the Bloods gang, advertised on social media.
