Three men were arrested as part of a significant police operation targeting cannabis production east of Montreal. Officers from the Sûreté du Québec, with assistance from local police, executed raids on Wednesday across St-Théodore-d'Acton, Drummondville, and Trois-Rivières.
This operation stemmed from a summer-long investigation into a criminal organization accused of producing cannabis under the guise of legitimate Health Canada medical cannabis production certificates. Over 60 officers searched multiple properties and vehicles, resulting in the seizure of hundreds of cannabis plants.
The arrested individuals, aged 31 and two 46-year-olds, were questioned and subsequently released. They are awaiting potential charges related to cannabis smuggling. The SQ has encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
