14 Jan
Summary

- First responders performed CPR on the puppies at a Washington fire station.
- An animal cruelty investigation is ongoing for the suspected overdose incident.

Six puppies in rural Washington state have been revived and are being cared for at a local animal shelter following a suspected drug overdose. Two individuals dropped off three puppies at the Sky Valley fire station, believed to have been exposed to fentanyl through inhalation or ingestion. Firefighters administered the overdose-reversing drug naloxone, provided oxygen, and performed CPR on the distressed animals.
Sheriff's deputies located three more puppies requiring similar treatment after tracking down the individuals responsible. Authorities reported the pair claimed they were temporarily caring for the animals, and an animal cruelty and neglect investigation has been initiated. This incident follows a national trend of pets being saved after opioid exposure.
