Puppies Rescued from Dumpster Just Before Trash Collection

In a dramatic rescue last week, eight puppies and their mother were found abandoned in a dumpster at Roller Park in Sparta. Sparta Police responded swiftly, locating the animals just 51 minutes before the trash truck was due to arrive. The timely intervention, aided by community tips, proved crucial in saving the vulnerable dogs.

The puppies, described as pit bull mixes, were suffering from severe hypothermia and required specialized care, including dextrose administration and placement in an NICU unit. They are now in the care of "Diamonds In The Rough" rescue and are expected to make a full recovery.

Authorities have arrested two individuals in connection with the dumping, with police seeking nine counts of animal abuse and nine counts of animal neglect, encompassing all eight puppies, the mother dog, and two other dogs removed from their custody. The suspects reportedly cited an inability to afford the dogs' care.
