A heated dispute between neighbors in Trichy, India, tragically resulted in the death of two newborn stray puppies. The conflict involved J Meenakshi Mishra, 28, and her neighbor G Bhuvaneswari, 30, who had been quarreling over domestic issues for approximately a year.
On Wednesday morning, an argument between the two women led to Bhuvaneswari allegedly throwing a stone at Meenakshi's three-year-old son, causing him injuries. Following this incident, Meenakshi reportedly discovered a group of newborn puppies outside her home about three hours later.
Misunderstanding that Bhuvaneswari was tending to the puppies, a furious Meenakshi seized two of the animals and violently threw them against Bhuvaneswari's residence, resulting in their immediate death. The shocking event was captured on CCTV cameras, circulating on social media and provoking widespread anger among residents and animal welfare groups.
Based on a complaint from the vice-president of People for Animals, police registered a case against Meenakshi under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Subsequently, Meenakshi's husband filed a complaint against Bhuvaneswari for his son's injuries, leading to Bhuvaneswari's arrest on Friday.
