Punjabi singer Harbir Singh Sohal was arrested on Monday after authorities discovered 5 kg of heroin and Rs 1.50 lakh in cash in his Mahindra Thar. Police stated that Sohal allegedly functioned as a courier for a drug supply network orchestrated from Australia.
The investigation was initiated after the arrest of Akshay Kumar on March 7, who was found with drugs. Subsequent inquiries led to the apprehension of Vishal and Sanjeev. During their questioning, Sohal's involvement as a courier in the drug chain surfaced.
Sohal, originally from Amritsar and residing in Mohali, revealed that the heroin belonged to Gurjant Singh, alias Janta, who is believed to be in Australia. Janta reportedly managed the network's finances and operations remotely.
Authorities are also probing potential links between the drug money and criminal activities, with the name of gangster Jaipal Bhullar emerging in connection with the case. Investigations are ongoing into the network's foreign contacts and financial transactions.
