Tensions flared in Jagdev Khurd village last night, culminating in a violent clash and gunfire between two rival groups. The incident, which occurred under the Ajnala police jurisdiction, stemmed from an old dispute between factions associated with Congress leader Gurdeep Singh and Karanbir Singh.
Senior police officials, including the Superintendent of Police (detective) and local Ajnala police, arrived at the scene to manage the situation. Both Gurdeep Singh and Karanbir Singh were injured during the confrontation. Gurdeep Singh sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was initially taken to Ajnala Civil Hospital before being referred to a private facility in Amritsar, where his condition is reported as stable.
The police are currently in the process of registering a First Information Report (FIR) to formally investigate the matter. Members from both involved groups are receiving medical attention for their injuries.
