Punjab Police Chief Leads Security Review, Commends Officers for Flood Relief

On October 7th, 2025, Punjab's Inspector General of Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office in Lahore to review the province's security arrangements, crime prevention efforts, and the progress of police development and welfare projects.
The meeting was attended by senior police officers, including the Additional IGP Investigation, AIG Operations, and AIG Development. Regional Police Officers, City Police Officers, and District Police Officers also participated via video link.
During the meeting, the IGP assessed the security measures in place for Chinese and other foreign nationals, steps to curb traffic accidents and overloading, and the overall performance in crime control. He also reviewed the progress on ongoing development and welfare initiatives within the Punjab Police.
Notably, Dr. Usman Anwar announced a commemorative shield and appreciation letter for the DPO of Mandi Bahauddin in recognition of his exemplary performance. He also commended officers from Muzaffargarh, Narowal, and Sialkot for their commendable work in rescue and relief operations during the recent floods.
The IGP emphasized the need for coordination between district police, the Safe Cities Authority, and the Counter Crime Directorate to track and arrest suspects involved in serious offenses. He directed the police units to intensify operations against dacoities, robberies, and vehicle theft, and to increase the recovery of stolen property.
Dr. Usman Anwar also instructed the officers to ensure the arrest of A-category proclaimed offenders, effective prosecution in narcotics cases, and efforts to secure convictions. The meeting also reviewed the use of the e-Police and e-FOS systems, complaint handling on the 1787 helpline, and the completion of Saiban offices, as well as the accuracy of police records.
Furthermore, the IGP directed that cases under the Anti-Rape Act be registered without delay and that efforts for the recovery of abducted and missing women and children be expedited.
