Punjab Police have reported a high rate of engagement with criminal elements, conducting 324 shootouts since April 2022, a pace of one exchange of fire every four days. These operations have led to significant successes in combating organized crime within the state.
The force has dismantled 962 gangster and criminal modules, apprehending 2,536 individuals and neutralizing 24 others. Recoveries from these arrests include 2,086 weapons, 564 vehicles used in crimes, 79kg of heroin, and Rs 4.7 crore in drug money, underscoring the scale of criminal activity tackled.
The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has been instrumental in these efforts, spearheading operations and collaborating with field units. Despite unfortunate casualties, with three police personnel martyred and 41 injured, the Punjab Police remain committed to eradicating the gangster culture.
