25 Jul
Summary
- Top police officials transferred after multiple firing incidents in Pune.
- A man was shot outside a police chowky; suspects were previously after him.
- Minors fired guns over a three-month-old cricket match dispute.

Pune city police commissioner Amitesh Kumar took decisive action on Saturday, transferring the senior inspector and crime branch officials from Khadak police station. This move followed two separate firing incidents that occurred within the station's jurisdiction on Friday. The first incident saw a man sustaining a bullet injury outside the Ghorpade Peth police chowky, with his companion escaping unharmed. Authorities reported that the suspects had been pursuing the injured man for several months prior to the attack.
Later on Friday, in Lohiyanagar, minors fired guns on two occasions. Investigations revealed the disputes stemmed from a cricket match that took place approximately three months earlier. One group allegedly sought retribution, with a member traveling to Madhya Pradesh to procure a firearm. The police have since detained the minors involved in this incident. All transferred officials have been assigned to the police control room.
