Pune Cops Fired Over Porsche Crash Response Delay

In a significant development, two police officers in Pune have been dismissed following an inquiry into their conduct during the high-profile 2024 Porsche car crash incident. The officers, identified as Police Inspector Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector Vishwanath Todkari, were serving at the Yerawada police station when the fatal accident occurred on May 19.
Sources indicate that both officers faced immediate suspension due to their alleged dereliction of duty. Crucially, they are accused of failing to promptly inform their superiors and the police control room about the serious incident. The proposal for their dismissal was sent to the Director-General of Police's office in March of this year after an internal investigation.
Further compounding their negligence, the officers reportedly delayed sending the teenage driver, who was involved in the crash, for a necessary medical examination and blood sample test. The teen, who had been subjected to a mob thrashing at the crash site, required immediate medical attention.
