In Pune, the Kalewadi police apprehended a suspect believed to be part of a ring involved in stealing four-wheelers and selling their components to a scrap dealer. The operation led to the detection of three cases and the recovery of a four-wheeler along with scrapped parts, valued collectively at Rs3.5 lakh.
The arrest occurred after police received a tip-off regarding a suspect heading towards Mumbai via the Pune-Mumbai highway. The suspect, identified as Shiva Yadav, was taken into custody. During questioning, Yadav confessed to stealing a multi-utility vehicle from Kalewadi on January 29.
Further investigation revealed that Yadav had taken the stolen vehicle to a scrap godown in Moi village, Khed taluka, where it was dismantled. The police team subsequently recovered another stolen pickup truck and spare parts from two other stolen vehicles at the scrap dealer's location. Efforts are underway to apprehend Yadav's associates and recover additional stolen property.
