In a chilling incident that took place last month in Pune, a man named Sameer Jadhav allegedly murdered his wife, Anjali Sameer Jadhav, and then burned her body in a makeshift furnace. Jadhav, an automobile diploma holder who ran a garage, had married Anjali, a private school teacher, in 2017.
According to the police investigation, on October 26th, Jadhav took his wife to a warehouse he was renting, under the pretext of showing her the new godown. Once inside, he strangled her. Jadhav had already built an iron furnace at the site to destroy any evidence of the crime. He then burned Anjali's body in the furnace and scattered the ashes in a nearby river.
To further mislead the investigation, Jadhav used his wife's phone to send a fake "I love you" message to one of his friends, making it appear as if Anjali was having an affair. He then replied to the message himself, creating a false digital trail.
After the murder, Jadhav visited the police station multiple times, feigning desperation and inquiring about the progress in locating his "missing wife." However, this suspicious behavior only made the police more suspicious. The police eventually cracked the case based on Jadhav's inconsistent statements, CCTV footage analysis, and a thorough technical investigation.
During intense questioning, Jadhav finally confessed to the crime and admitted that he was inspired by the Bollywood thriller 'Drishyam' to commit the murder. A case has been registered against him, and the matter has been transferred to the Rajgad Police Station for further investigation.
