In Jogwadi village, located approximately 44km from Pune city, a shocking incident of familial violence occurred late on Friday night. Police have arrested a 47-year-old farmer, his second wife, and their 21-year-old son for allegedly bludgeoning to death the farmer's 31-year-old son from his first marriage.
The victim, identified as Suraj Gulumkar, resided with his father, stepmother, and stepbrother. Investigations suggest the fatal attack stemmed from Gulumkar frequently beating his stepmother. This pattern of abuse escalated when Gulumkar once again began assaulting his stepmother around 9:30 PM on Friday.
During the altercation, the father and stepbrother intervened. In the ensuing struggle, the trio allegedly pushed Gulumkar down and fatally bludgeoned him with tiles. The arrests were made under section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, pertaining to murder. An underlying dispute over Gulumkar's share in the family farmland is also believed to be a contributing factor.
