In Pune, an eatery owner and an accomplice were arrested early on Thursday, September 10, 2026, for the abduction of a 28-year-old civil services aspirant. The incident occurred around 12:30 AM, approximately 400 meters from the Perugate police chowkey, after the victim was observed talking to the suspect's female friend. The suspects, identified as Sagar Ramesh Borade, 32, and Kishor Balasaheb Sawant, 32, were apprehended after a 32km police chase.
Authorities report that Borade, who owns an eatery near Alka Talkies, had previously warned both the victim, Prasad Suryavanshi, and his female friend to cease their communication. Despite the warning, their interactions continued, leading Borade to demand Suryavanshi's location. Upon receiving it, Borade and three others forcibly placed Suryavanshi into an SUV, subjected him to assault, and drove him across the city, eventually transferring him to another vehicle before releasing him near Alka Talkies.
One of Suryavanshi's hostel mates alerted the police control room about the abduction. Officers were able to identify Borade's vehicle via its registration number. A pursuit ensued, with police tracking Borade's cellphone location and engaging in a chase that covered multiple areas, including Sinhagad Road and Swargate, culminating in the arrest of Borade and Sawant.
