Pimpri Chinchwad has witnessed a notable decrease in overall crime, with serious offenses falling to 6,904 cases in the past year compared to 7,125 the year before. This success is credited to a multi-faceted strategy involving enhanced vigilance in 1,045 identified crime-prone areas and close monitoring of 1,585 registered criminals. Police commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey highlighted that this approach effectively curbed organized crime syndicates, leading to 213 offenders being booked under stringent MCOCA provisions.
The past year saw preventive actions and special drives against illegal weapons yield positive results. Authorities seized 243 country-made pistols and 908 sharp weapons, significantly reducing heinous and street crimes. Body offense cases dropped to 1,087 from 1,183, while property crimes saw a decrease to 2,129 from 2,474. Professional offenses, such as burglaries, also declined, demonstrating the police force's enhanced investigative capabilities.
Beyond crime control, the Pimpri Chinchwad police have expanded their infrastructure, establishing a police hospital and commencing construction of a new commissioner's office. Housing projects for police personnel are also underway, alongside new police stations.
