Summary
- Constable bit a businessman during a bribe trap operation.
- Three ACB personnel were assaulted by the constable.
- The constable demanded Rs 1.5 lakh for not arresting businessman.

A constable from Koregaon Park police station in Pune, Ganesh Kaspate, was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh. The bribe was solicited from a businessman to help him evade arrest on a non-bailable warrant issued by a Hyderabad court. The incident escalated when ACB personnel conducted a trap operation at a housing society on Boat Club Road.
As soon as Constable Kaspate accepted the bribe money, the ACB team moved in. However, he reacted violently, biting the businessman on the chest and then assaulting three ACB officers who sustained minor injuries. The businessman, who was hospitalized, had previously paid Rs 5 lakh to Kaspate to handle the warrant, but was later threatened again.
The ACB, after registering a case against Kaspate, confirmed that he had initially demanded Rs 2 lakh and later settled for Rs 1.5 lakh. The businessman's decision to approach the ACB led to the successful trap and the constable's arrest, despite his aggressive actions against the officers and the complainant.
