- Family claims co-accused falsely implicated in plot.

An investigation into the death of Pune real estate businessman Ketan Vishal Agarwal, who died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18, has been escalated to a murder probe. Initially ruled an accident, police have since arrested Ketan's fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chowdhury, as co-accused. The family of Chetan Chowdhury vehemently denies his involvement, asserting he is being framed.
According to Chetan's father, Babulal Chowdhury, his son was merely a witness and stated he did not push Ketan Agarwal. Babulal claims Chetan was standing some distance away when the incident occurred and that Siya Goyal was nearer to the edge. Chetan's uncle, Udayram Chowdhury, also maintains his nephew's innocence, accusing the media of presenting a one-sided view and stating Chetan is a straightforward person with no prior complaints against him.
However, Pune Rural Police report that evidence suggests a planned conspiracy between Siya and Chetan. Investigators believe the plot was conceived during a May 31 visit to Lohagad Fort, where Siya allegedly noticed Ketan near the fort's edge. An earlier attempt on June 14 reportedly failed, but a subsequent incident led to Ketan's death. Police suspect Siya, who allegedly did not wish to marry Ketan, conspired with Chetan, whom she met last year, to murder him. Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chowdhury are in police custody until June 29.
