Promising University Student Killed in Hit-and-Run Tragedy

On November 6, 2025, 20-year-old Elsa McGrain, a University of Kansas student, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident while jogging in Lawrence, Kansas. According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO), the incident occurred around 6 p.m. local time.
Authorities were notified about the incident the following morning, on November 7, 2025, when a passerby reported seeing a person near the road. Sadly, the deputies determined that the person was McGrain, who had passed away.
The DCSO has released a photo of a white pickup truck that they believe could be a "vehicle of interest" in the case and is urging anyone with information about the vehicle or the incident to come forward. They have also asked anyone who may have been in the area between 5:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on November 6, 2025, to contact the authorities.
