On 2025-10-05T16:19:26+00:00, prominent Maharashtra entrepreneur and social worker Rana Suryawanshi was the victim of a deadly attack while on a work-related visit to Solapur. Suryawanshi, known for creating employment opportunities for thousands of youth and his impactful social initiatives, was returning from Akkalkot when his vehicle was suddenly ambushed.
The assailants, armed with pistols and sharp weapons, arrived in a Bolero jeep and carried out the assault. According to the police, four men were involved in the attack: Sachin Lalu Rathod, Akash Madhukar Chavan, Krishna Phulchand Pawar, and Avinash Shivaji Rathod.
The investigation, led by Solapur Superintendent of Police Atul Kulkarni and Special Inspector General of Police Sunil Phulari, is ongoing. This is not the first time an attempt has been made on Suryawanshi's life due to his extensive social work across Maharashtra over the past 15 years. Police suspect the attack may have been motivated by Suryawanshi's growing influence in both business and social service.
Based on the complaint filed by a constable who was with Suryawanshi during the incident, a case has been registered at the Akkalkot Police Station. One accused has been arrested, and the remaining three are also now in custody.
