Prolific Burglar Arrested, Lavish Lifestyle Exposed

On November 13, 2025, the Yamakanamaradi police in Belagavi arrested a man named Suresh Maruti Naik for his involvement in a series of house burglaries. Naik, a resident of Mahantesh Nagar in Belagavi, had been under investigation for these crimes.

The breakthrough in the case came after a burglary on October 22, 2025, at the house of Vishwanath Duggani in Yamakanmaradi village, where valuables worth several lakhs were stolen. Acting on clues and using scientific investigation methods, a team led by Yamakanmaradi inspector Javed Mushapuri cracked the case.

During interrogation, Naik confessed to committing similar burglaries in Yamakanmaradi, Managutti village, and within the Sankeshwar police limits. Police recovered 1,280 grams of gold ornaments, 8.5 kilograms of silver, ₹1.2 lakh in cash, a Thar SUV, and two two-wheelers from his possession. According to Belagavi Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled, Naik had 21 previous cases registered against him across the district and had allegedly targeted houses of affluent families, particularly those without CCTV surveillance.

The police have commended the investigative team for the swift detection of the case and the recovery of the stolen goods. Naik's arrest has brought an end to his criminal activities, which he had been using to maintain a luxurious lifestyle.
