Husband Arrested in Wife's Murder, Fake Robbery
18 Feb
Summary
- A pregnant woman was allegedly murdered by her husband.
- The husband initially reported a robbery gone wrong.
- The crime occurred in Haryana's Jhajjar district.

A newlywed couple's four-month marriage was shattered by an alleged premeditated murder in Haryana's Jhajjar district on Sunday evening. Anshul, a chartered accountant, was arrested for the murder of his wife, Mehak, a bank employee who was two months pregnant. The couple had recently celebrated Valentine's Day before the incident.
Anshul claimed they were attacked by robbers while traveling from Hansi to Gurugram near Badli, and that Mehak was killed during the assault. However, inconsistencies in his statement led police to intensify questioning. He eventually confessed to strangling his wife and then slitting her throat with scissors he had brought for the planned act.
Authorities suspect that Anshul's objections to his wife's frequent phone conversations with colleagues may have been a motive. Mehak's family has registered an FIR and is demanding strict punishment. Anshul is to be produced in court for further interrogation to ascertain the full motive and sequence of events.
