Pregnant teen shot, paralyzed during robbery

An 18-year-old Ohio high school student, Angel, was shot and paralyzed during a robbery on June 6, nearly six months into her pregnancy. The incident occurred when Angel and her boyfriend met someone from Snapchat on Greenway Avenue. A man approached their car, demanded money at gunpoint, and fired the weapon during a struggle. The bullet struck Angel in the arm, traveled through her side, and lodged in her chest, causing a spinal fracture at the 12th vertebrae and resulting in paralysis.

Angel's mother stated the bullet narrowly missed the baby. The teen also went into early labor due to her injuries. Her family has initiated a GoFundMe to cover extensive medical bills, baby supplies, and essential home modifications, such as structural ramps, to accommodate her wheelchair use. Angel's family expressed their deep distress but noted she is fighting for her life and her son's. They are preparing to support the young couple in raising their child while Angel navigates her new reality.

Authorities searched the area for a suspect following the shooting but did not make an arrest. Angel remains awake and is eating, with her medical team treating the situation as an emergency due to the high likelihood of the baby being born prematurely. Her family highlighted her lifelong fear of paralysis, which she now faces alongside the immense stress of caring for a newborn from a wheelchair.
