Pregnant Mother Killed in Tragic Crash, Unborn Baby Lost

On the evening of November 3, 2025, a devastating car crash in Hornsby, Sydney claimed the life of a pregnant woman and her unborn child. Samanvitha Dhareshwar, 33, who was eight months pregnant, was walking with her husband and their 3-year-old son when she was allegedly struck by a white BMW driven by 19-year-old P-plate driver Aaron Papazoglu.

According to police, Papazoglu's vehicle collided with a Kia Carnival that had stopped to allow the family to cross the road, pushing the Kia forward and hitting Dhareshwar. She suffered catastrophic injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where she and her unborn baby could not be saved.

Papazoglu, a university student with no prior criminal or driving offenses, was later arrested and charged with dangerous driving causing death and causing the loss of a foetus. His lawyer argued that the collision was a "tragic outcome to a series of unfortunate events," but the magistrate denied bail due to the seriousness of the charges.
