In Prayagraj, authorities from the Puramufti police station arrested three men on Thursday, recovering a cache of illegal firearms and ammunition. The arrested individuals, identified as Arshad (39), Mohammad Sadan (28), and Mohammad Ashraf (28), all residents of Umri village, were apprehended near the Bharetha Home Guard training centre following a tip-off. During the apprehension, police discovered a .315 bore country-made pistol along with a .315 bore live cartridge and seven .12 bore live cartridges.
A case has been registered against the trio at the Puramufti police station under the Arms Act. Officials have indicated that the arrested men possess previous criminal records. Arshad has faced charges related to rioting and attempted murder in Dhoomanganj and Airport police stations. Mohammad Sadan has been implicated in cases involving the Explosive Substances Act and a murder charge from 2024 at Puramufti police station. Mohammad Ashraf's criminal history includes charges under the Cow Slaughter Act and IPC sections in Varanasi.
