Pratapgarh police have arrested two active arms smugglers, seizing a cache of six illegal firearms, ammunition, and magazines. The successful operation was executed on Friday by the Mandhata police station and the special anti-theft squad, following precise intelligence.
The apprehended individuals are Shahbaz, a cross-district smuggler from Dhema village, and Anil Mishra, a local smuggler from Pure Torai village. They were intercepted near the Hansi Jaichand Yadav basti intersection in a white Brezza car.
Authorities recovered one .32 bore pistol, one .32 bore revolver, and four 315 bore pistols. The seizure also included two magazines, eight live cartridges, mobile phones, and cash. Each firearm was estimated to be sold for Rs8,000 to Rs10,000 in the illegal market.
A case has been registered against the arrested men under the Arms Act. The police team responsible for this prompt action was commended, with a cash reward announced for their efforts. Further legal proceedings are currently underway.
