Two Portland police officers are in stable condition following a shooting that occurred Monday night. The incident prompted an extensive manhunt for the suspect, a Caucasian male in his mid-30s. Police responded to a report of a weapon threat around 8:20 p.m. on Northeast Clackamas Street.
Upon locating the individual, the suspect allegedly fired shots, striking two officers. The officers were transported to a hospital and are reported to be in stable condition. The suspect fled the scene, and tactical teams, including specialized units and K9, were deployed to search the area.
Authorities have described the suspect as armed with a knife and handgun and are warning the public not to approach him. He was last seen with a black backpack and a green shopping bag. The Portland Mayor expressed concern for the officers and wished them a speedy recovery.
