Three policemen from Dahod district are facing charges for allegedly attempting to smuggle liquor from Rajasthan. The incident unfolded Sunday night when police received specific intelligence, leading to a chase.
Head constables Arjun Bhuriya and Mohan Taviyad, along with constable Prakash Hathila, were involved. Bhuriya and Hathila reportedly acted as lookouts in a lead vehicle, while Taviyad drove the car carrying the liquor. Police signaled the vehicles to stop, but they fled, initiating a pursuit.
The chase continued towards Limdi road, during which Taviyad lost control of his car, causing it to crash into a stormwater drain. He abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Police recovered beer and whisky bottles valued at Rs 66,646 from the car, which was also impounded.
