- An unauthorized chase ended with a collision involving an e-scooter.

A police officer, PC Cai Scivyer, has been dismissed for gross misconduct after an unauthorized pursuit ended in a collision with an e-scooter rider. The incident occurred in Daventry on April 12, 2024. A Northamptonshire Police misconduct panel concluded that Scivyer drove above the speed limit and mounted a kerb during the chase.
Scivyer, who joined the force in 2019, initially claimed the e-scooter rider moved into his path. However, dashcam footage contradicted this, showing the police vehicle blocking the rider's route. The former officer admitted his memory of events was inaccurate and accepted he made poor decisions.
He pleaded guilty to driving without due care on November 20, 2024. His criminal conviction, dishonesty, and deviation from policy led to his dismissal. The panel noted his genuine remorse and high regard among colleagues.
