Metropolitan Police officer Lewis Rollins has been convicted of fraud and coercive control. The 29-year-old officer used women met on dating apps to fund a severe gambling habit.
Rollins was found guilty by a jury of two counts of coercive or controlling behaviour and three charges of fraud. He also faced an earlier conviction for assaulting a fourth woman. The court heard he was dating multiple women simultaneously, taking money from them and convincing one to take out a £4,000 loan.
One victim, Dr Georgia Miller, described acts of violence and controlling jealousy, including him attacking her in a Birmingham hotel room. She sent Rollins thousands of pounds for bets and rent. Another victim, trainee solicitor Emily Busby, lent him money, including a £4,000 loan she took out for him. She stated Rollins changed her life forever and she still struggles to recover financially and emotionally.
Sentencing Rollins, Judge Christopher Hehir imposed an 18-month community order with 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days. He also ordered Rollins to pay £3,132.50 in compensation to Ms Busby within six months. The judge noted Rollins had already served time equivalent to a two-and-a-half-year sentence.
