Nottinghamshire Police's longest-serving police dog, PD Dexter, has officially retired after an accomplished career spanning over eight years. This exceptional Malinois cross served as both a qualified firearms support dog and a general-purpose dog, demonstrating remarkable tracking abilities.
His handler, PC Jonathan Whysall, shared that Dexter was an outstanding and dedicated partner, fiercely protective and deeply loved his role. PC Whysall emphasized the mutual trust and safety Dexter provided. The dog's passion for his duties remained strong until the very end of his service.
Dexter retired in December, concluding a career that significantly surpassed the average six-year service life of police dogs. He will now be lovingly cared for by his handler, PC Whysall, enjoying a well-deserved rest.
