The co-owner, Tommy Brown, described the collection as representing three years of personal investment.
The incident occurred on Wednesday around 5 a.m., preventing the business from capitalizing on last-minute holiday shoppers. Brown lamented that some of the stolen cards are unique and no longer available on the market, making their recovery and replacement impossible. He noted that Pokémon card thefts are a growing concern, as the cards lack serialization, hindering tracking efforts.
Despite the significant setback, Brown and his fellow owners are determined to persevere. They plan to reopen the shop the following week with improved security measures, emphasizing their commitment to serving the community. Police are actively investigating the theft and believe the suspect may have cased the store previously.
