17 Aug
Summary
- Seven vehicles identified with illegal number plates during checks.
- Multiple drivers caught exceeding speed limits on several roads.
- Motorcyclists with loud exhausts given one week to comply.

Devon and Cornwall Police recently executed a road safety operation in Plymouth, focusing on drivers exhibiting dangerous and inconsiderate behavior. During roadside checks on August 6, seven vehicles were identified with illegal number plates. Multiple drivers were also caught exceeding speed limits on various roads, including West Hoe Road, Millbay Road, and Durnford Street.
The operation also addressed noise pollution, with seven motorcyclists found to have bikes fitted with illegal exhaust systems. These riders have been given a one-week deadline to install legal exhaust systems and pass a MoT test. Police stated that several vehicles failed to stop when signaled, and their registration numbers were recorded for prosecution.
Insp. Olly Barrett emphasized the importance of such operations in addressing community concerns about antisocial driving, particularly during busy summer periods. He assured that enforcement activities will continue throughout the year to maintain road safety for all users.
