Three miniature horses were severely injured in a brutal attack by two pit bulls on a farm near Kindersley, Saskatchewan, on September 8. The horses, identified as Monty, Rascal, and Finley, sustained hundreds of bites to their legs, torsos, and faces. Finley, a young filly, suffered particularly horrific injuries to her face.
The owner, veterinarian Kaitlyn McIntyre, discovered the aftermath upon returning from work and immediately sought help. The injured horses require continuous care to manage infections and potential long-term damage, including torn ligaments and partial facial paralysis. McIntyre expressed deep concern about Finley's quality of life and the possibility of fatal outcomes from the extensive trauma.
Following the attack, the pit bulls reportedly ran through Kindersley, alarming residents. The dogs, covered in blood, were later seen near a bus stop where children gather. The owner of the pit bulls was identified and fined by Kindersley town officials for allowing the animals to roam at large. The incident is currently under investigation by the RCMP.
