Delhi Police stated on Saturday, December 20, 2025, that no formal complaint has been filed concerning an alleged assault by an off-duty Air India Express pilot at the city airport. The incident, which purportedly occurred near the security checkpoint at Terminal 1, was reported to police via social media.
A passenger, Ankit Dewan, alleged on social media that the pilot verbally abused and then physically assaulted him after he objected to staff members cutting the queue. Dewan claimed the altercation left him bleeding and deeply affected his seven-year-old daughter.
Air India Express confirmed awareness of the incident involving an employee traveling as a passenger, stating the pilot has been removed from duty pending an internal probe. Police indicated that legal action will be pursued once a written complaint is submitted, and evidence like CCTV footage is examined.
