Authorities are once again seeking the public's help in locating a suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a casino security guard. Michael Ferdinand, 34, was killed while working at a Pickering casino in the early morning hours of October 9, 2023. A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Tyjae Nosworthy-Smith, who was 17 at the time of the incident and is now charged with second-degree murder.
Durham Regional Police Service Det.-Sgt. Erik Mamers announced a $25,000 reward for information leading to Nosworthy-Smith's arrest, describing him as armed and dangerous. Despite efforts to track the suspect through social media, his movements remain difficult to pinpoint. Nosworthy-Smith is described as a Black male, 5'8", 110 lbs, with a tattoo on his left elbow, and is believed to have ties to the Driftwood community, the Jane and Finch area, and Brampton.
