Prosecutors allege the child died from a savage beating inflicted by Sean Hernandez, 21, who was dating the victim's mother. Investigations revealed the toddler had signs of severe battering, possibly from objects, and potentially suffered suffocation. Hernandez has been arrested and charged with murder, endangering the welfare of a child, and weapons possession.
Two other individuals were arrested for obstruction of justice and unsworn falsification. The child's mother was reportedly home during the incident but has not been charged.
