Pharmacist Stabbed to Death Over Rejected Marriage Proposal
12 Sep
Summary
- A pharmacist was fatally stabbed inside his store.
- The attack followed a rejected marriage proposal.
- Two suspects were arrested and remanded to custody.
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, a 22-year-old pharmacist, Shaikh Mohammed Faisal, was fatally stabbed on Friday afternoon. The victim was attacked inside his family-owned medical store in Harsul. Police arrested two individuals, Rehan Amin Patel (25) and Sameer Raees Shaikh (24), late Friday night in connection with the murder.
A court remanded the accused to five days of police custody on Saturday. Investigators revealed that the motive appears to stem from a marriage proposal made by Patel for Faisal's 19-year-old sister approximately five to six months prior. The proposal was rejected as the sister's marriage was already arranged elsewhere.
Faisal's elder brother, Sheikh Mustakim, stated in his complaint that the rejection led to strained relations and harassment. He alleged that Patel frequently targeted their family by revving his motorcycle near their residence and store. The incident escalated when Patel and Shaikh allegedly entered Faisal's store, leading to an argument and the fatal stabbing.
