Bake Off Star Hits 100mph for Vet
7 May
Summary
- TV chef Paul Hollywood was caught speeding at 96mph.
- He claimed he was rushing his sick cat to the vet.
- Hollywood received five penalty points and a fine.

Paul Hollywood, a judge on The Great British Bake Off, was clocked driving at nearly 100mph on the M25 motorway. He was stopped by Surrey Police and claimed he was urgently taking his sick cat to the vet. His Land Rover Defender was recorded at 96mph, with speeds believed to have exceeded 105mph on the M26.
Appearing at Worthing Magistrates' Court, Hollywood pleaded guilty to speeding. He was fined £293, ordered to pay £120 in costs, and a £117 victim surcharge, resulting in five penalty points on his license. A separate charge of driving without due care and attention was withdrawn by police.
Court documents revealed the incident occurred on January 9 around 3:20 PM. Police stated Hollywood's vehicle repeatedly tailgated other cars to force them out of the fast lane. Hollywood, a known motoring enthusiast, has previously admitted to driving too fast, calling it his 'most unappealing habit'.
