21 Dec
Summary
- A 16-year-old girl went missing from Patna four days ago.
- She made a distress call from an unknown number, mentioning Gandhi Maidan.
- Police suspect elopement but family alleges kidnapping due to her distress.
A 16-year-old girl from Patna has been missing since Thursday evening, sparking concerns among her family. She left her rented home in the SK Puri police station area and failed to return, prompting her family to file an FIR.
On Saturday, the girl's mother received a distressed phone call from an unknown number. The caller mentioned heading towards Gandhi Maidan before the line abruptly disconnected. Police traced the number to a local guava vendor who confirmed the girl, wearing a sari, bought fruit and asked to use his phone.
Authorities searched Gandhi Maidan and surrounding areas, with one witness reporting seeing the girl board an e-rickshaw. While police prima facie believe she may have eloped, citing her cousin's confirmation of her talking to a boy, her family insists she was kidnapped, pointing to the distress in her voice during the call.
