Ex-DGP's Son-in-Law Targeted: Notorious Criminal Shot

Patna STF and local police engaged in an encounter on Friday, resulting in the apprehension of Manager Rai, an alleged extortionist. Rai, who has a history of over 20 criminal cases including murder and extortion, was shot in the leg and subsequently admitted to AIIMS-Patna for treatment. He was reportedly demanding extortion money from the son-in-law of former Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey.

During the operation, police recovered two cartridges, an empty shell, a cellphone, and a pistol from Rai's possession. He was also a wanted suspect in the 2022 murder of Phulwarisharif-based Dr. Mohammad Anwar Alam. The STF stated that Rai, a known contract killer, had been absconding for three years in a murder case.

An FIR was filed against Rai on June 27, 2022, by Rakesh Ojha, the former DGP's son-in-law, alleging a demand of ₹11 lakh. Rai was arrested and sent to jail on July 19, 2022. He is also implicated in the August 17, 2022, murder of Dr. Anwar Alam in Danapur.
