A couple from Wirral has received life sentences for the murder of their three-month-old son, Miguel Pirjani. The infant was found unresponsive in November 2024, with subsequent medical examinations revealing he had sustained a fractured skull and dozens of other fractures in the preceding weeks.
Klevi Pirjani, 37, and Nivalda Santos Pirjani, 35, were found guilty of murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and grievous bodily harm. Klevi Pirjani was sentenced to over 17 and a half years, while Nivalda Santos Pirjani received a sentence of nearly 14 years.
Merseyside Police detailed the horrific nature of the injuries inflicted upon the defenseless baby. Investigators highlighted that the parents never provided an explanation for the abuse. The Crown Prosecution Service stated that Miguel was entirely dependent on his parents, who were responsible for his death and did not intervene.
