Summary
- High court ordered Puri SP to form a special task force.
- Child allegedly kidnapped in December 2023 from Puri.
- Court stressed child's welfare, demanding urgent action.

The Orissa High Court has ordered the Puri Superintendent of Police to establish a special task force to investigate the kidnapping of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, allegedly taken in December 2023. The court expressed significant dissatisfaction with the lack of progress in the case during a hearing on February 23, 2026.
A division bench noted that despite previous directives, the child has not been rescued. The court mandated that the Puri SP personally oversee the task force's review and issue necessary directions, requiring a progress report by March 16, 2026.
Earlier attempts to identify the child, including a misidentification by Airfield police station in Bhubaneswar, have yielded no results. The investigation is focusing on CCTV footage of three vehicles, one of which has a Jharkhand registration number, as police continue their efforts to locate the missing child.
