In Hazaribag, a special NDPS court in Chatra delivered a stringent sentence on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Bheklal Saw, an opium trafficker, was sentenced to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 1.5 lakh. This verdict stems from his arrest on April 4, 2022, when he was found in possession of 374 grams of opium powder.
Saw was apprehended during a routine vehicle check near Harhad More, under the Rajpur police station limits. The court found Saw guilty based on substantial oral and documentary evidence, alongside the testimony of key witnesses. An additional two-year jail term will be imposed should Saw fail to pay the imposed fine, underscoring the court's zero-tolerance policy.
