Olympian Drug Lord's Witness Murdered, Suspect Arrested

The investigation into former Olympian Ryan Wedding, accused of orchestrating a billion-dollar drug smuggling operation, has taken a grim turn with the murder of a key witness. Jonathan Acebedo-Garcia was killed in Medellin, Colombia, approximately 10 months ago, prior to his scheduled testimony against Wedding. This development has led to the arrest of Atna Onha, allegedly known as Tupac, in Canada by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at the FBI's request.

Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic snowboarder, is wanted by the FBI for allegedly leading a vast criminal enterprise involved in drug trafficking and multiple murders. He was added to the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list in March, with a $10 million reward offered for his capture. The authorities are preparing to hold a press conference regarding Onha's arrest, who is described as a crime figure with alleged ties to organized crime groups in Montreal.

The case, dubbed Operation Giant Slalom, has seen significant seizures of cocaine and firearms, with numerous associates of Wedding already in custody. Despite these successes, Wedding remains at large, believed to be hiding in Mexico under the protection of the Sinaloa Cartel. The ongoing investigation highlights the transition of an Olympic athlete into a fugitive accused of orchestrating violent crimes.
