Robert "Bobby" George, the 44-year-old owner of TownHall and Mandrake Rooftop restaurants in Columbus, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree felony count of attempted strangulation.
George was initially charged with more serious crimes like attempted murder, rape, and kidnapping in relation to multiple alleged domestic violence incidents against a 25-year-old woman he was dating in 2023 and 2024. The victim claimed George once held a gun to her, raped her, and shoved a towel down her throat while she prayed. However, the attempted strangulation charge was related to a June 2024 incident where George allegedly choked her and threw her around their home.
Despite the disturbing allegations, George was able to plead down to the lesser charge and avoid jail time. In a statement, he denied the allegations and compared himself to former President Donald Trump, claiming he was "targeted by his political enemies." The victim expressed her fear of George, saying she now has difficulty trusting anyone and is "terrified" of his "lies and manipulation."
