Brendan Damron, a 24-year-old officer with the City of Marion Police Department, was arrested on Thursday night. The Marion County Sheriff's Office took him into custody following reports of a sexual assault involving an adult female family member.
Damron was booked into the Morrow County Jail on charges including two counts of rape and one count of abduction. These allegations stem from an off-duty incident that reportedly occurred at a private residence on February 11. The sheriff emphasized his office's independence in investigating the matter.
Marion Police Chief Jay McDonald confirmed that Damron has been placed on administrative leave. An internal investigation is also underway to address the allegations. The chief expressed confidence in the Sheriff's office and the County Prosecutor to conduct a fair investigation and prosecution. Damron is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.
