24 Dec
Summary
- Mother indicted on multiple charges including murder and manslaughter.
- Infant suffered severe head trauma and multiple skull fractures.
- Mother allegedly admitted to methamphetamine use during investigation.

Daisha Somers, a 27-year-old Ohio mother, was formally charged on December 17, 2025, with murder, involuntary manslaughter, and other offenses related to the November 2022 death of her 10-month-old daughter, Ka'myla. The child was rushed to the hospital on November 20, 2022, exhibiting severe head trauma and extensive bruising. Initial accounts suggested the infant fell from a toddler bed, a claim later disputed by investigators.
Medical examinations revealed Ka'myla suffered multiple skull fractures, internal bleeding, and retinal hemorrhages, indicating a violent event far exceeding a fall. The infant was placed on life support and tragically died on November 23, 2022, at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Somers reportedly admitted to police that she had been smoking methamphetamine.
Somers was arrested in West Virginia on December 19, 2025, and extradited to Ohio on December 23, 2025. Her boyfriend, initially questioned, is not currently facing charges. Somers has yet to enter a plea in this ongoing case.
