Authorities in Ohio have apprehended Thurmond F. Adkins IV, who is accused of repeatedly burglarizing the home of a man found deceased within the residence. The 76-year-old victim had apparently been dead for some time when deputies responded to the Andover Township home. Investigators determined that Adkins discovered the body but failed to notify authorities, instead proceeding to steal various items.
The stolen property included the deceased man's vehicle and a safe, along with numerous personal belongings. The car was later discovered in Williamsfield Township, and the safe was recovered in Pennsylvania. While many of the stolen items have been returned, the investigation is ongoing as detectives believe other individuals may have been involved.
Adkins faces preliminary charges including burglary, trespass, theft, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. The cause of the 76-year-old man's death is still under investigation by the coroner's office, though foul play is not currently suspected. Anyone with further information is encouraged to contact Detective Wolff.
