Martel Huggins, 33, has been arrested and charged with murder and felonious assault in connection with the death of 27-year-old Malicai Calder. Authorities apprehended Huggins while he was reportedly driving Calder's vehicle, which investigators allege contained some of the victim's body parts. The motive behind the crime remains unknown.
Calder, a recent master's degree graduate from the University of Toledo, was reported missing on November 22. Court records indicate that the victim suffered gunshot and stab wounds to the head, and his body was dismembered, according to the Lucas County Coroner's Office. The manner of death has been officially ruled a homicide.
